The Watertown, NY Chrome Divas participated in the Annual ‘Festival of Trees’ charity event held December 4-6, 2015 to support Samaritan Medical Center’s programs for women and children. There were 62 trees that were decorated for this event, each tree having its own ‘theme / purpose’. This year, the Watertown Chrome Divas chose to decorate and design our tree in support of ‘Domestic Violence’ Awareness. 4’ & 7’ trees were provided at no cost; however, the Watertown Chrome Divas chose not to go with the ‘traditional’ tree, and instead, to go 'outside the box' building our own ‘tree’ from the ground up using baskets, hammers, nails, boards, spray paint, styrofoam, imaginations, creativity and uniqueness. Our tree theme was 'Domestic Violence' awareness and was ‘purpled' out with a North Pole side scene. The tree was made using 31 plastic baskets with 6 layers, each layer using a board and screws to connect each basket to the board for stability. All decorations on the tree were decked out in purple. All 31 baskets that were used to build the tree were filled with items for the Victims Assistance Center such as robes, pajamas, journals, undergarments, bras, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, pens, notepads, children's books, stuffed animals, etc. We are so excited to share that our ‘Domestic Violence’ Awareness Tree was selected for, and sold Saturday, December 5, 2015 at the live auction for the HIGHEST amount charity trees for $1,000! We are so thrilled!! The gentlemen who purchased the tree for $ 1,000 will be taking the tree to its intended home…..the Victims Assistance Center in Watertown NY.
